Borut Zrim is middle aged guy with background in Economics, (still) married, with 2 kids and 18 years of experiences in helping SMEs at their development. He started as export manager for USA market in garment (Menswear) industry selling “tangibles” for 2 years, after that he became a Jaguar Menswear brand manager for 3 years. He decided to change and sell “intangibles”, this time in form of tourist services at huge Spa Resort, focused on groups coming form German speaking market – again he managed to be there for 3 years. Since (already 18 years), he has been a Project Manager (by title “Head of External Relations”) at Pomurje Technology Park, consulting and mentoring SMEs how to do sales and marketing, how to internationalize and lately digit(al)ize their companies.
His clients are mainly Slovene small to medium sized companies on their path getting digital or growing the business. In last few years there was a SMEs demand for services related to digitization of their businesses. By chance he got LER (Local Evangelist for Robotics) and so contact point for H2020 project DIH2 in Slovenia. Since then, he is connected to the scenery with big European DIHs, specialized in Robotics and Automation. Due to its initial education is in Economics he and long-term experiences and skills he helps Start-ups and Scale-up to improve their performances (trainings, workshops, networking). As Head of External Relations, he “connects the dots” between industry and policy level, using transnational good practices as input to our Slovene SME support Ecosystem, sometimes with minor, sometimes bigger adaptations. To exchange these information we do regular meetings and events with policy level stakeholders.
Personally, he uses his free time to do smaller reparations/maintenance around the house, nourishes wife’s hobby (garden), does cycling, soccer, likes to travel and ski. Balancing between these activities and having kids (when not part of activities) started to grow him some grey hair (on sides)…so it is not being old but rather getting “charming”.
