Innovation Centre Nikola Tesla (ICENT) is the leading constituent of the innovation ecosystem in Croatia for applied research and development in the field of engineering and related applications that lead Croatian society and economy towards competitiveness and sustainability. It is a non-profit institution whose function is to enable and accelerate commercialisation of new technologies important for the development of Croatian economy. It integrates scientific research, innovation and commercial processes for setting up new industrial technologies, products, services and business models. The centre contributes to the growth of the Croatian economy based on high technologies, primarily in the sectors of power generation, transport, automation and robotics, advanced components, biomedical engineering, and information and communication technologies.

The centre aims to become the leading Croatian research and development hub, particularly with its competences focused on electronics, design, computer engineering, information and communication technology, and related applications that drives the Croatian economy towards competitiveness and sustainability. The strengths and capabilities of ICENT are built trough creation of path for the scientific community to commercialise results of research, growth in interdisciplinary activities within the community, workspace and infrastructure for proof-of-concept and prototypes development, support to start-up companies to commercialise innovations developed, growth of intellectual property, growth of high-added value businesses and jobs, support of technological competitiveness, thus adding value to the European technological development thrust.
